Talking Book Service
Birchard Public Library is a cooperating library with The State Library of Ohio's Talking Book Department. Through this service, recorded books, magazines, and playback equipment are loaned free of charge to the blind or physically handicapped patron. Application may be made through the Outreach Department at 419-334-7101, ext. 232.
Audiobooks
Audiobooks are in a variety of formats: books on cassette, CD, and on MP3. These are available for check out from the library. The patron supplies the player. Downloadable material is available through the Clevnet Digital Library with a Clevnet member library card.
Playaways
These are hand held battery-operated players with pre-loaded books. Plug in a set of earphones and they are ready to play.
Victor Reader Streams
The Victor Reader Stream is a digital talking book player. It is compatible with many MP3, DAISY and NISO downloads. It is also compatible with the talking book cartridges available through the State of Ohio Talking Book Program. There are 6 of these players available to be checked out by qualified borrowers.
